Thank you for registering for MMD Architecture's Holiday Cook-Along! 

The Menu:

  • Fragrant Daal with Spinach
  • Sweet and Sour Butternut Squash
  • Buttery Rice with Fried Onions
  • Turmeric & Ginger Rubbed Chicken
  • Mustard & Curry Leaf Raita
  • Classic Kachumbhar Salad

Desert:

  • Vanilla Ice Cream with Chai Syrup

Cocktails:

  • Mumbai Mule
  • French 75
  • Indian Hot Toddy

Here's a shopping list with the ingredients you'll need to cook along with us:

Bar

  • Bourbon
  • Vodka
  • Ginger beer
  • Gin
  • Simple syrup
  • Champagne (or other sparkling wine)

 Pantry 

  • Vegetable oil or olive oil
  • Ghee
  • 2 cups basmati rice get the real stuff from the Indian grocery store
  • 2 cups  Chana Daal
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Vanilla extract
  • Cashews
  • Golden raisins

 Grocery 

  • 3 lb boneless chicken Breast and thighs
  • 1 lb. Spinach
  • 2 lbs. cubed butternut squash
  • 6-8 Lemons
  • 6 limes
  • One large English cucumber
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes
  • Large bunch water cress or arugula
  • Large daikon radish
  • Green chilis to taste
  • 2 bunches fresh cilantro
  • Sprig of mint
  • 4 large yellow onions
  • 8 ounces Ginger
  • 1-2  ounce piece fresh turmeric root
  • 3-4  heads Garlic
  • 1 small beet canned is fine
  • 1-2  large dried ancho peppers
  • Large container of plain Bulgarian style yogurt
  • vanilla ice cream

 Spice Cabinet 

  • Cumin,
  • Ground turmeric
  • 10-12 whole chili dried peppers
  • Asafetida
  • Ginger garlic paste
  • Black mustard seeds
  • 2-3 sprigs of curry leaves
  • Fresh ground pepper/ whole peppercorns
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 pods of black cardamom
  • 4 pods green cardamom
  • 4 inch piece cinnamon stick
  • 6-8 cloves
  • 8-10 black peppercorns
  • Nigella seeds
  • 4 tsp whole coriander seeds
  • Black peppercorns
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Ground red chili pepper
  • Chai spice tea bags
  • Star anise
  • 2 tsp Rumi Spice Herati Coriander, whole seed
  • 1/2 tsp Rumi Spice Wild Black Cumin whole seed
  • 2 pinches of Rumi Spice Saffron threads

Note: For best results, we recommend you buy spices at an Indian grocery store.
